Chamber Music

The aim of this study programme is to enhance the students' musical abilities with particular focus on knowledge and skills required in chamber music performance. The programme is designed to nurture the students' complex musical and academic development; the students are encouraged to seek a synthesis of practical musicianship with theoretical knowledge of musical styles, genres, and forms (in their historical development), cultural-historical contexts of music, and issues of performance practice. The study programme includes short-term courses led by foremost performers (Czech and international) specialising in historical or contemporary performance practice. The students explore a wide range of performance styles and instrumental techniques, whereby they gain the ability to select an optimal stylistic approach to the piece at hand and to justify their choices by relevant arguments.
